Soda Pop Butterfly

Here's a quick post on using a soda can to create this fun butterfly.
First I had my husband cut the top and bottom off the can then cut it down the center to create one sheet.  I cut the metal using my Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterfly die and Big Shot without any difficulty.  In fact I was surprised as to how easily it cut through.  I dabbed the butterflies with alcohol inks and then ran them through the Big Shot again, this time using a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I used adhesive dots to adhere them together and made thin antennas out of the left over metal.
I attached my butterfly to a fun shaped star card. You can find the tutorial here.  Be warned that it's in Russian.  Just look for the link that will let you translate to your own language.
Here's a picture, that I took recently, of our cute cats getting into mischief. The weather here in Florida got below freezing recently so we brought our potted plants into the house. This gorgeous plant is called a kangaroo plant and the lizards love hiding in it.  The cats found that out pretty quick. Actually it's Bella that's being a bad girl sitting right in the center of the plant, Darci is just 'observing'.
Thanks for stopping in.
Have a good night,

Beautiful Bella

Aren't these flowers gorgeous? I wish I had kept the wrapper for the box they came in. I can tell you that the middle of the flower is made from a button that I bought at JoAnn's. Did you know there was a tool to cut the shank off buttons? Amazing!

On to Beautiful Bella ~ she is my sweet kitty that my husband gave me for Christmas. She will be a year on Saturday but still acts like she is a kitten. I scrapped her playing under my curtains. She will entertain herself with practically everything.

thanks for stopping in. Isn't she the cutest?

Bella Butterfly

I seem to be slowing down on my projects. I remember when I was making a card a day, now it is taking me...too long! Could it be that old age is starting to catch up with me, gosh I hope not!
This card is made with the beautiful Bella Rose Designer Paper from Stampin' Up!

This angle shows you how I made the card. I'm sure the card fold has a name, but I have no idea what it is.

Now I bet you're wondering about that butterfly. All the butterflies stamps that I have are too small for what I wanted, so I drew my own. Yup, drew my own! Can you believe how 'stamped' it looks. It was quite easy. I drew it with a pencil, then outlined it with a marker, colored it in, added crystal effects and some iridescent ice. ta do! Isn't that the coolest?!

I'll definitely be trying out more 'stamp' drawings in the future. Give it a try...you'll be amazed at what you can do.
I hope you have had a good weekend,
Michelle

Bella and Liyah

How about a change of pace. Today I'm sharing my pets...aren't you lucky! This is Liyah. She is a 7 year old Jack-a-poo. What is that you ask! She is a Jack Russell ~ Poodle mix. Here she is relaxing after have a nice bubble bath.

And here's my kitty, Bella. We just adopted her from the SPCA last week and love her to death. In the picture you can see her pretty pink nail caps. Nail caps cover her claw tips so no damage occurs when she scratches. Which is a good thing for Liyah.

Aren't they the cutest!

Happy September

Happy September all! Can you believe how fast the summer went by? Here in Florida it's still nice and warm (just the way I like it) but I know that cooler weather is just around the corner.
I'm still working on using my stamps from the new catalog. Honest I didn't buy that many, but I also came home with four new sets. This first card is made using the Flores Suaves that is only found in the Spanish Catalog. I think it's a beautiful set.
First I stamped the flower image using Chocolate Chip and colored the flower using Regal Rose and Old Olive. Then cut the image out. I layered Vellum on top of Whisper White card stock stamped with the verse from the set. I also sponged the edges of the white. Then used dimensionals to adhere the flower to the Vellum. I used Zip Dry to adhere it all to the Regal Rose card stock. If you have never tried Zip Dry, I totally recommend it. A huge bonus, besides being re-positional is that it dries clear. So you can use it with Vellum! The verse is from Warm Words and is stamped with Chocolate Chip. The card base is Chocolate Chip. Attach a ribbon and voila!

The next card uses the Dreams du Jour set. I have been wanting to try out the faux metal look and this stamp just screamed do me! It really is quite easy and the results are fantastic.
I stamped the largest image with versamark onto silver metallic card stock, dusted it with silver embossing powder and heated it up. Love the magic. After cutting the corners with the Ticket Punch, I layered it with Black card stock and attached silver brads. The back drop papers for the square are from the Bella Rose Designer Paper. I also used the new Scallop punch from Stampin' Up!

I hope you have a fabulous day!
