Halloween Altered Bird House

Halloween is always a fun time for decorating.  So I decided to take out a wooden birdhouse that I got at Michael's over a year ago. Just in case the bare wood was going to poke out I painted all the edges black.  After that I went to town making myself a template, for all the pieces.

To decorate my little birdhouse I cut out the fun papers from the Happy Haunting paper pack from My Mind's Eye. Then edged all the edges with black ink.

I created these fun doors and WoW they look amazingly real!  The twin skeletons were part of some of the card stock, so I cut them out and attached them so they look like they are opening the doors.

I made some bats and some adorable little spiders. (can spiders be adorable?)  I found a cool looking clock and printed it out, cut it out, distressed it then covered it with glossy accents.  Cool, huh?

I added a strip of acetate to one of the bats then attached it to the back side of the doors so it would look as if it is flying out of the house. I also used the acetate to create the windows.  Using some acetate on top of orange cardstock then used strips of black to make the panes.

  This side of the roof was craving a scary big momma.

This is the back of the house, don't cha love the window treatments?  I added some cobwebs and a black cat. When my house was complete I added some little ball feet and a few more spiders.
Pretty cool, huh?!

Joy

Oh boy it's getting so close to Christmas, only 2 more days!  Yikes.  This year has flown by so quickly.

Today I'm sharing an altered frame that started out in the Target clearance section.  Three bucks! and worth every penny!

I started with a beautiful sheet of 12 x 12 from My Mind's Eye, All Is Bright, paper pad then went to town with things from my 'stash'.

  Isn't this the coolest embellishment ~ made with things collected over the years.  You know that stuff you need to purchase because you know you will use it someday.  Well looky what I made with it!

The joy letters were cut five times with my Cricut Jasmine cartridge.  I glued all the letters together to create them nice and thick. Then glitterized them using Martha Stewart fine glitter, then when that was dry, I used some Shaved Ice, from Stampendous, around the letters. I love this project!!  I hope you do to.

Christmas Card Marathon part deux

Another My Mind's Eye card using the collection from Lost & Found Christmas. Those adorable pennants come as a trim.  So cute!!

 A close up of the pennants show that I popped them up off the card.  Nice added dimension.

Here's another card from the same paper collection.  I used the pennants as well as some gorgeous lace I had in my stash.

 Here's a close up of the pennants and the lace.  I wove some beautiful ribbon through the lace and added a cute little bow.

Christmas Card Marathon

Hello my fellow crafters.  Honest I am still crafting.  Every day!  But looking at my blog, it doesn't look that way.  So I thought I should post some of the Christmas Cards that I have been making.   

I don't know what got into me this year, but I haven't made a single duplicate card.  arrggggh!

So here are a couple that have made it to the mail box.  I LOVE them both!  The first one is done using All is Bright from My Mind's Eye.  The second card is made using paper from Webster's Pages.  The sizes were fun to work with then to top it off, I made my own envelopes using the Envelope Punch Board from we R Memories.  That little tool is a must have.

Vintage Bee

Ok, who loves this card!?  Me! Me! Me!  Isn't it adorable!?  The image is from a 1920 picture I found on Pinterest and matted it with black.  The card base and the crepe paper trim are from My Mind's Eye and the wood veneer butterflies are from Studio Calico.  I've already mailed my card, but I think I'll be making a few more of these  :-)

I Spy Mind's Eye!

 Aren't these patterns and colors beautiful!!  They all came in one big paper pack called the Lost and Found collection from My Mind's Eye.  I cut the pieces up in all sorts of sizes, then had fun putting them together.  Reminded me of a jig saw puzzle.

I edged all the pieces using Wild Honey Distress Ink. The butterflies are from an old Martha set and a TJ Designs Rubber Stamp collection, stamped with CTMH Chocolate ink. The laces and pearls are from my stash.
Since the cards were an odd size (8 1/2 x 3 1/2) I made envelopes to match the cards using the We R Memories Envelope Punch Board.

Christmas in July?

Here are a couple of Christmas cards that I created. I didn't think I'd like making them so early, but these came out so nice that I will probably continue making more. The first card uses a page from the Wonderful Winter paper pack from My Mind's Eye, Spellbinders Labels 4, SU button die, and some twine. I printed the Merry Christmas on my computer using Kingthings Christmas font that you can find for free here.
The next card was quite easy. I used a beautiful page from Webster's Pages, gold trim from Jolee, Gold embossing powder, Gold leafing pen and the Season's Greetings stamp from Michael's dollar bin that I bought last year. It came out so elegant.
