Card in a Box Valentine

Geesh, the time has flown so quick.  My last post was before Christmas!  Honestly, I have been creating almost everyday but have been to lazy to do any posting.  Today changes that with this gorgeous card!

 This is called a Card in a Box, folds up flat for mailing and can be totally, over the top, decorated.  I've put the directions at the bottom of the post so you can make your own :-)

 For this lovey, I used my trusty Cricut to cut all the hearts and the quote Love you.  The paper is from Prima's 6 x 6 Divine Collection.  Love it!

• Take an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock and score on the long side (11” side) at 2.5”, 5”, 7.5” and 10”.Cut off a 2 x 11 strip and set it aside. This will be used later.

• Turn the now 6.5 x 11 panel a quarter turn (so that the unscored short side is at the top of your score board) and score at 2.5”.

• Cut down to the 2.5” score line along each of the 4 perpendicular score lines. At the 10” score line cut in at a slight angle from the edge of the cardstock to create a tab.

• Cut the 2 x 11 strip at 4.5” from the end with the 1” score line. Cut the strip in half long ways to create two 1 x 4.5 strips for the inside of your box.

• Decorate each panel.

Assemble box and finish decorating accordingly.

Buzz and Bumble Surprise Slide Out Card and Tutorial

 

 Hello my friends!  I'm excited to share with you my latest card.  It's called a Slide Out Card and I'm hoping by looking at my pictures you can see how it works.  

 

To create this fun card, I used the Close to my Heart Buzz and Bumble Workshop on the Go kit.  The kit comes with the papers, stamps and the cute little sparkles that I used.  Did you notice the little bee's?  I incorporated them into my design using some clear plastic packaging material.

Here's the card closed so I am still able to put it into a regular size envelope to mail.  Besides showing you here, how the card works, I should tell you that I created a video tutorial!  I'd love for you to take a look, let me know what you think and hope you are inspired to make one yourself.  Link to my Surprise Slide Out Card Tutorial.

The images were stamped with Cocoa Ink onto Colonial White cardstock. Colored with a mix of yellow and orange colored pencils and then smoothed out with a blending pen.. The two verses were also stamped with the Cocoa ink onto Creme Brulee cardstock.  Here's a video to show you how I created the card.

 Lots of cuts and important scoring to make this cutie. To help you out, here are the details.

• Buzz and Bumble stamp Workshop on the Go Scrapbooking Kit
• Two 4 1/4" x 5" for front of card and one for the back ( I used Cocoa)
  
• One 3 1/8" x 4 1/2" for the slider ( I used Brown Glitter Paper)
  
• One 4" x 4 3/4" Designer Paper to layer on the front (I used Buzz and Bumble)
  
• One 4" x 4" for the inside of the slider ( I used Creme Brulee)
• Cocoa Ink Stamp Pad
• Orange and Yellow colored pencils
• Blending Pen
  
• Dark Chocolate Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
• Eyelet
  
• Crop-a-dile
• Tape Runner

Two 4 1/4" x 5" for front of card and one for the back ( I used Cocoa)  Cut lines are at 1/2" on both long sides and 1" up on one side for the front of your card. Score the front piece at 1", 2 1/4" & 3 1/2"

One 3 5/8" x 4 1/2" for the slider ( I used Brown Glitter Paper)  Cut 3 1/4"  x  4 1/4" for the inside tag (Creme Brulee)  

One 4" x 4 3/4" Designer Paper to layer on the front (I used Buzz and Bumble) Make matching scores and trim the inside of your DP

One 4" x 3 1/2" for the inside of the slider ( I used Creme Brulee)

Then have fun decorating!

Pineapple Drink Card

Here's a fun card, for a fun friend, to brighten up her day.  I created this Pineapple shaped card using my Cricut Expression with Cricut's Life is a Beach cartridge. And here's a bonus for those that are interested!  I have the step by step directions below!

I love how this little card came together.  I may have to make a few more and put them up on my Etsy shop.  Anyone interested ?  :-)

As to why Adhesive Squares are in the picture above, Glue Arts is having a challenge on their blog;  Glue Arts: Make something for Mother's Day.  The challenge was to create something for Mother's Day using one of their products and take a picture showing how you used it.  Well the package does not actually hold squares, but a nice long line of adhesive that was perfect for gluing the designer paper to the straw and umbrella pole.  This adhesive is awesome for use with ribbon (probably why it's called Ribbon Adhesive)  It will stick ribbon down and not show through with those ugly blotches.

Flower Cart Gift Box plusTutorial

 I've received quite a few requests to post the directions for a flower cart that I had posted a few years ago.  The original instructions are in Russian, so with permission from Nadia, the original creator, I have done a tutorial in English.

Isn't it adorable!  This would be a perfect Mother's Day gift.
Here are the two templates you will need to create the cart/wheelbarrow.  The measurements are done in centimeters.  The dash lines are for folding ~ solid lines for cutting.

  

1. Cut out the templates ~ I've used Kraft paper for the large parts of the cart and a few layered pieces of thin cardboard for the handles, the wheel and the legs. I'm using some of Nadia's original pictures because she does a fabulous job recording the steps.
Here you can see all the cuts that are needed.  (My top cover is a bit different than hers)

2. Score on dotted lines, fold and glue to form empty cart.

3. Score and fold top piece of cart and adhere to the inside to create a flip up top. You can cover the inside if you'd like.

 

4. I ran all the extra smaller bits of the cart through my Big Shot using a wood grain folder from the Paper Studio. I cut some of the longer side pieces to create varied lengths of 'wood'.

5. Ink all the edges. I used Tim Holtz frayed burlap distress ink.
6. Add 'nail heads' using a brown marker and glossy accents..

 7. Put together the handles by inserting a brad through one of the handles then into one of the circles. Repeat with the other handle and wheel. Then sandwich a third circle inside so the prongs of the brads are not visible.
8. Glue the handles and legs to the bottom of the cart using the extra 'planks' as cross pieces to hold it all together.

 

 

 

Now for the flower filling :-)

1. Use Cricut Expression, cut out a nice bunch of flowers. I used a cut from the Cricut Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge. I also cut out some leaves using a punch from Martha Stewart called Leaf Fronds.
2.Use an embossing pad and tool and along with some well placed pencil lines, create some dimension to the flowers and fronds.

3. Adhere some of the flowers to the base top along with a ribbon to use as a pull for the top.
4. Trace the top of the flower cart to make a green base to match the leaves.  Cut two of these out.
5. Attach loads of flowers to one of the green pieces and then curved it to appear that the cart will look full.  I added rubber from a negative of a Stampin Up stamp set to give it some lift. It's always fun to find use for things that you keep for no apparent reason.

6. Attach the curved green base to the flat green base then glue onto your flower cart. You can see here how I created the illusion that the cart is overflowing with flowers.

 

Just keep adding flowers until your cart looks full. Isn't it beautiful!!
